Frequently asked questions

Find quick answers to common questions about WorkLedger data, backups, registration, licensing, workers, attendance, wages, site finance, security, and support. For step-by-step instructions, open the related Help topic.

Data and backups

  1. Does WorkLedger upload my worker, attendance, payroll, or site-finance data?

No. Operational business records are stored in the WorkLedger application data on the device. Backups are created and managed separately by the user. WorkLedger does not use its licensing service to synchronize operational business records.

  2. Does WorkLedger support automatic backups?

Yes. WorkLedger can create periodic automatic backups in a folder you choose when Android allows the scheduled task to run. You should still keep protected copies and occasionally verify that usable backups are being created.

  3. What happens when I restore a backup?

Restoring a WorkLedger backup replaces the current WorkLedger business data with the data contained in the selected backup. Make sure you understand what will be replaced before confirming a restore.

  4. Where should I keep my backups?

Keep backup copies somewhere protected and, where possible, separate from the device holding the live WorkLedger data. The selected backup folder may also be managed or synchronized by the device or storage provider.

Registration, trials, and licensing

  1. Do I need internet access to use WorkLedger?

Normal operational record-keeping does not depend on continuous internet access. Internet access is required when WorkLedger needs to communicate with the licensing service, such as during registration or license verification.

  2. Can reinstalling WorkLedger restart the trial?

No. Reinstalling the app or repeatedly registering does not provide a new trial. Trial and licensing status are controlled by the WorkLedger licensing system.

  3. What should I do if the license cannot be verified?

Check the device internet connection and date and time, then open Settings and review the Licensing / Application section. Use Check License Now to request a fresh license check. If the problem continues, record the message shown and contact WorkLedger Support.

  4. What should I do when changing to another device?

Do not assume that reinstalling WorkLedger automatically transfers the existing license or business data. Create and protect a current backup first, then follow the applicable licensing or replacement process for the new device.

Workers, attendance, and wages

  1. Can I edit worker information later?

Yes. Worker records can be reviewed and updated when details change. Take care when changing information that is used by attendance or wage calculations.

  2. Can WorkLedger record overtime?

Yes. Attendance records can include overtime hours and overtime amounts according to the wage and overtime information recorded in WorkLedger.

  3. Can a worker's net wage become negative after advances?

Yes. If applicable advance deductions are greater than the calculated wage amount, WorkLedger can show a negative net balance. Review the wage calculation and related advance records before confirming the result.

  4. Where can I review attendance and wage information?

Use the Reports section for attendance, worker wage, advance, pending-payment, payment-history, monthly wage, and site labour reports. Detailed source records can also be reviewed from their respective WorkLedger modules.

Sites and finance

  1. What is Site Finance used for?

Site Finance records client receipts and non-wage site expenses and combines them with labour cost information so you can review the financial performance of a site.

  2. What is the difference between profit and cash flow?

Profit & Loss compares the project or contract value with project costs to estimate profit or loss. Cash Flow focuses on actual money received and actual cash paid out during the selected period. The two figures therefore do not necessarily match.

  3. Is labour cost entered manually as a site expense?

No. Labour cost is derived from WorkLedger's attendance and wage-related records. Do not duplicate the same labour cost by entering it again as a normal site expense.

Security and support

  1. How can I protect WorkLedger from unauthorized access?

Open Settings > Security and enable App Lock. WorkLedger can be protected with a 6-digit PIN, and you can configure when the app locks after you leave it.

  2. Can I use fingerprint or biometric unlock?

Yes, on supported devices. After App Lock is enabled, Biometric Unlock can be enabled to use fingerprint or another supported biometric authentication method. Only enable it on a device whose enrolled biometrics belong to authorized users.

  3. What information should I provide when contacting support?

Describe what you were trying to do, the exact message shown, and whether the problem affects one record, one screen, or the whole app. Include the WorkLedger app version and a screenshot when useful. Do not send your PIN, replacement token, administrator password, or other private credentials.
